Poetry coasters

We know you love the poetry and thought this would be a lovely way to see the words that mean something to you every day. We love the idea that you can have words that give hope or inspiration or comfort, right there ready for your cuppa.

The coasters are 9cm square with bumpers on their base to protect your surfaces – the words are surrounded by colourful glazes to draw the eye in.

The coasters are solid and steady, yet delicate, being only 0.5cm deep.

They make a lovely gift for someone to have dotted around the house or to simply have a small bundle to share out among friends and family.

The coasters are made by rolling out slabs of clay, and when dry enough, cut into squares using a tile cutter to make them even in size. The edges are then smoothed using a soft sponge and the back smoothed using a very satisfying pottery tool called a kidney! Once the back is stamped with ‘seatree’, we choose a word, or words, from Chris’s poetry. Once dried between plasterboard, to keep them flat, they are fired once, a biscuit firing. They are then glazed, with black underglaze being added to the lettering. Then, those words are protected with a strip of tape, and colour added with glaze, ready for their next firing. Lots of love added to each coaster!
