The ceramic coasters are 9cm square with bumpers on their base to protect your surfaces – the words are surrounded by colourful glazes to draw the eye in.
The coasters are solid and steady, yet delicate, being only 0.5cm deep.

How we make the pottery coasters
The coasters are made by rolling out slabs of clay, and when dry enough, cut into squares using a tile cutter to make them even in size. The edges are then smoothed using a soft sponge and the back smoothed using a very satisfying pottery tool called a kidney! Once the back is stamped with ‘seatree’, we choose a word, or words, from Chris’s poetry and inscribe them in the clay. Once dried between plasterboard, to keep them flat, they are fired once, a biscuit firing. They are then glazed, with black underglaze being added to the lettering. Then, those words are protected with a strip of tape, and colour added with glaze, ready for their next firing.
