Description
Here, with our beautiful imperfections, we make a stand..
The words on this ceramic artwork are from a poem by Chris. Michaela wanted to reflect the beauty of body shape and the joining together of lives and chose to do this with soft glazes and sweeping lines. Together, we make that stand.
This framed pottery picture measures 19.5cm square. Each frame is bespoke and so the artwork fits well and the frame has a metal ring for hanging.
How we made this ceramic picture
The lines were drawn in with a fine stick and the words added by stamping one letter at a time into the stoneware clay square. The picture was then dried between plasterboard sheets to keep it flat, then was fired to 1000 degrees. Once out of the kiln, we added black underglaze to pick out the lines and letters, then the soft blue and green glazes were added and the picture was fired again to 1240 degrees. It’s two days before the kiln cools enough to open and then Chris made the bespoke frame.
A lot of love goes into these made from clay pictures! We think it makes a good gift to share with a loved one.
