Description
These hand built pinch pots were Chris’s first ‘seatree elemental’ pottery, trying out different clays. we love them. If you bought one, you would be owning a seatree original and first of its kind!
The pots are formed by hand from a ball of clay, using an ancient technique, sometimes called thumb pots, as you form them by pushing your thumb into the ball then pressing outwards until you have the form you desire.
Chris then added a small base and when the pots were dry enough, Michaela added a line of poetry. In the elemental pots, we do not shy away from the stronger poems, those that challenge or provoke thought.
The clay used is a stronger gritty clay too, that can hold its shape easily when thrown through fire! These pots were all fired in our woodland garden in a fire pit. In with the combustible material, was added a variety of organic materials, which bring subtle colours to the clay. No glazes are involved, but a wax was used to seal in the colours.
The pots are each unique but measure approximately 10cm in diameter and 5cm in height.
They are not to be repeated pots!
The five pots say:
- in a space that lies wide open, sit with me and make a new belonging
- resting close, breath misting me, sweet like new grass, you come & stay
- slow like sun, slow like sunday, stories waiting to be told
- particles tumble down, like this promise, i am here, where you are
- there is joy to be found
