Description
The words on this ceramic artwork are from a poem by Chris, written on FairIsle. The words read, “Never was I so alive.”
As always, each piece is a combination of work and creativity from both Chris and Michaela and in this instance, Michaela has printed in the line of poetry by Chris, and added the glazes, and Chris finished the ceramic artwork by framing it. Each piece we make is unique, with the words inspiring the artwork. Words and clay and shape and colour all coming together.
The image is from the love we have of the west coast of Scotland, although maybe it reminds you of somewhere we haven’t thought of. We hope either way that you can feel in this picture, the sense of space, of fresh air, of the light that surrounds you when you stand on the shore line.
The pottery picture has a metal hook for hanging, as shown in the images.
How we made this ceramic picture.
The clay is white stoneware and the letters were stamped in before the clay dries and the lines were drawn in by a sharp stick. It was dried slowly between plasterboard and then fired. The colours added in this artwork are gentle. Some of the added colour is underglaze, some is provided by soft glazes, to enhance the words.
(framed size 19cm square)
We think that this gift would make a beautiful gift for a sea loving friend (or maybe it’s for you).
