Description
The hope of a rainbow appearing through the rain clouds.
Rainbows are like magic. We all know the science, but it doesn’t take away from the joy that a glimpse of colour through the darker clouds.
The clouds and rainbow, along with the lettering, were sketched into the clay, then it was put to dry. Once dry, the picture was fired to 1000 degrees and then the fun of adding the colour began. First, lines were picked out with black underglaze, then colour was added. Rainbows are hard to capture, but adding water as we went, hopefully we have achieved something of that subtlety and brightness that rainbows gift to us.
The picture was then fired again, this time to 1240 degrees, then framed by Chris, for you. The finished piece is 18cm square.
