‘Puffer’ ship, made from driftwood collected from local beaches, copper plumbing fittings.
This piece is a look back for us to earlier days of seatree. We were determined to make art from beach-found objects, and this began with sculptures from drilled pebbles, shells and of course, driftwood. At some point, Chris started to make puffer ships from bits of driftwood and scrap copper. This one was overlooked somehow in the back of a cupboard. We think it is rather lovely and is ready to sail off in to new waters.
(It should be emphasised that this ship is not a toy, it is sold for ornamental purposes only.)
27cm stem to stern. 9cm abeam. 26cm to masthead.
